  • Access Statement the Plough Inn and Bowleys

    Built as it was in 1483, the Plough is a grade II listed building, has some beautiful architectural features ,however therefore, the structure of the building presents some physical barriers to accessibility.

    Whilst we can accommodate guests with limited mobility, we do not have facilities suitable for those guests who are confined to a wheelchair. If you do have any special needs please do not hesitate to contact us before making a reservation so that we can endeavour to meet your requirements.

    Pre-arrival

    We welcome correspondence by phone, letter, or email. This document and menus can be provided in a larger font.

    Taxis can be arranged to collect you from your home, local train or bus station. A printed route can be provided on request. Details of a local firm who hire equipment such as scooters can be provided on request.

    Arrival

    The main front entrance to the bar is from Taylors lane ( 838 mms wide ) with the entrance to the restaurant on the left hand side ( 762mms wide ) and the bar on the right hand side ( 762mms wide ) There is a half-step leading to the front lobby . You may park briefly in the bay immediately outside, to drop off via the main entrance.

    Car Park

    Continue past the building (on your left) and take the first left to reach the Plough’s car park at the rear of the building. The tarmac finished car park is level and arranged in 13 bays. The area is covered by CCTV and sensor lights are in operation. There is a rear entrance to the bar (762mms wide)with 3 steps with a handrail on the right hand side. Although guests can enter via the front entrance on Taylors Lane entrance which has 1 x half step

    The Bar

    The Bar is located on the ground floor with stepped access from the car park . There are 2 x separate half steps in the bar If approaching from the rear entrance . With no step if approaching from the front door The bar counter is at a height of 105cm. There is a table with chairs located close to the bar and the bar is always staffed during opening hours

    The bar area is well lit with a access route to the Restaurant through the bar . The restaurant is table service only and large print menus are available on request. Most diets can be catered for by prior arrangement.

    We accept well behaved dogs on leads in the bar area . Please note that dogs are not permitted in the restaurant (excepting service dogs).

    The Restaurant

    The restaurant is well lit although we have occasional candle-lit dinners, additional lighting can be provided on request in such circumstances. The restaurant furniture is freestanding, and the chairs are without arms available.

    Toilets

    Gents Toilets are situated opposite the bar and ladies toilets at the rear of the restaurant. There is a half-step leading to the ladies toilets and 1 x step leading to the gents toilets
